Project Outline
Teachers were provided with a checklist for the identification of students who may present with sensory processing and executive functioning difficulties.
Students were referred to the Learning Support Teams of each school. From these referrals,16 students were selected.
These students were then referred to and assessed by Dr Susan Lowe, Occupational Therapist.
Principals, Assistant Principals along with Learning and Support Teachers attended an information session on identifying and understanding sensory processing, executive functioning and elements of the project.
A network of seven Blue Mountains schools was involved in the project . The staff of these schools were provided with professional development via an initial information session for learning support teams. Following this, a professional development day, presented by Dr Susan Lowe, involving the staff of all schools, was run.
